What you do in October and November decides how your lawn looks next April. These are the five jobs we never skip.
1. Keep mowing
Grass keeps growing until the soil turns cold. Mow at your normal height, then go slightly lower on the final cut so it doesn’t mat down over winter.
2. Clear leaves early and often
A layer of wet leaves blocks light and traps moisture — exactly what lawn diseases love. Light, frequent clearing beats one big rake at the end.
3. Aerate and overseed
Early fall is the best window to relieve compaction and fill thin patches while the soil is still warm.
4. Feed for the roots
A fall feeding helps grass store energy through winter and green up faster in spring.
5. Prep beds and borders
Cut back spent perennials, mulch bare soil and edge the borders one last time so everything looks sharp through the grey months.
Or let us handle it
Our seasonal care visits cover all five. Book a walk-through and we’ll put together a fall plan for your yard.
